The Sustainability Assistant will support the delivery of ODGroup’s sustainability and social value across projects and the wider business. This is an exciting new role for ODGroup and will play an important part in helping the business further develop and strengthen its sustainability initiatives, environmental performance, and long-term responsible business practices.

You will act as a sustainability champion internally and externally, helping to ensure our projects meet required accreditation standards while contributing to the continuous development of our ESG strategy.

Purpose

The candidate will be required to work collaboratively to deliver environmental and social value targets in alignment with ODGroup's ESG strategy. Support the implementation of the Social Impact elements of OD’s ESG Strategy. Have an eye for detail to audit the compliance of our projects, supply chain and ESG data.

Key Accountabilities
  • Calculate project targets in alignment with the ODGroup ESG Strategy and assist the site team in taking action to ensure these are met, including monitoring and reporting requirements via ESG monitoring software.
  • Administer the setup of projects on ODGroup's ESG software, grant user access, setup project targets, provide training for project teams and subcontractors.
  • Register projects under the Considerate Constructors Scheme and support site teams to action strategies to achieve exemplary project scores.
  • Carry out sustainability & social value inspections on site, making sure these are communicated to the project team and subcontractors for information and action, and follow up any non-conformances.
  • Review Construction environmental management plans, air quality plans, social value plans and site waste management plans in alignment with project targets.
  • Support the sustainability team in collating and reviewing project certification evidence to ensure compliance with accreditation criteria such as BREEAM and SKA Rating.
  • Support the sustainability team to develop and implement social value plans and community engagement plans.
  • Lead the internal task group to organise and promote volunteering events to fulfil our social value commitments.
  • Support the sustainability team to collate content for PQQs, tenders and marketing.
  • Manage company-wide resources such as the sustainable materials library and charity directory.
  • Review subcontractor procedures and policies for compliance with ODGroup's ESG commitments.
  • Support the collation of accurate ESG data by conducting regular data and performance audits of ODGroup's ESG software.
  • Be our office sustainability champion liaising with internal teams to champion our ESG commitments.
Research & Innovation

Stay informed on low and zero-carbon technologies and emerging industry best practice. Make recommendations for sustainable materials and construction and social value methods. Keep up to date with relevant legislation, standards and research.
