A tech‑led organisation is looking for a Senior Linux Engineer to play a key role in transforming its core infrastructure. You’ll lead the move from a traditional VMware estate into a modern Red Hat OpenShift Virtualisation platform, while also supporting and optimising the existing environment during the transition. This is a hands‑on role combining Linux expertise, virtualisation, and platform engineering.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and delivering Red Hat OpenShift platforms on bare‑metal infrastructure
- Leading the migration of workloads from VMware‑based environments into OpenShift Virtualisation
- Supporting and maintaining existing VMware environments during the transition phase
- Managing Linux systems across a high‑availability, production environment
- Driving improvements in performance, scalability, and reliability across the platform
- Working with enterprise storage solutions to support VM and container workloads
- Supporting backup, disaster recovery, and resilience planning
- Owning day‑to‑day platform operations (patching, upgrades, live migrations, etc.)
- Acting as an escalation point for complex infrastructure and platform issues
- Collaborating with engineering teams to improve automation and operational processes
- Participating in an on‑call rota and supporting key out‑of‑hours work

- Hands‑on experience with Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes
