Principal Geotechnical Engineer - London
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 DOE
Location: London
An established consultancy is looking for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their London team. This is a senior technical position offering the opportunity to lead complex geotechnical projects, provide technical expertise and support the development of junior engineers.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing complex geotechnical projects
- Reviewing ground investigation information and developing ground models
- Undertaking and reviewing geotechnical design calculations
- Foundation, retaining wall and earthworks design
- Slope stability and settlement assessments
- Producing and reviewing geotechnical interpretative reports
- Providing technical input into ground investigation specifications
- Liaising with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams
- Reviewing technical work and providing guidance to junior engineers
- Supporting proposals, tenders and business development
- Managing project budgets, programmes and technical deliverables
About You
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
- Significant experience within UK geotechnical consultancy
- Strong technical knowledge across geotechnical design and ground investigation
- Experience with Eurocodes and relevant British Standards
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
- Strong report writing and client-facing skills
- Experience mentoring and technically supervising junior staff
- Full UK driving licence
