About Us
THE POST REPUBLIC (London) delivers content across the entire spectrum of Post Production including dailies, online, offline, grading, sound, and deliverables. We’ve got a high volume of Post Production work on at the moment, especially in the cutting rooms, which puts us in a great position. To keep pace with demand, we’re looking for an experienced freelance Picture Post Production Engineer with strong AVID skills to join and strengthen our team. Hands-on experience as an editor or assistant editor could be a real plus. You’ll work alongside our existing Post team, supporting and maintaining the technical infrastructure that keeps our picture pipeline running smoothly. There will also be some requirement to assist with general systems and IT support across the business. The initial contract will be for the summer, but there is a strong chance of this being extended or even rendered a staff position for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Support up to a dozen edit suites with up to twenty editors in maintaining their systems, data and workflow to a gold standard
- Support the operations of Avid Media Composer and Avid NEXIS storage during and between client sessions
- Support editorial workflows, including ingest, media management, conform, and delivery processes
- Ensure all suites — including offline, online, and sound — are correctly configured, calibrated, and ready for client sessions
- Monitor and maintain workstations, shared storage, and core post-production infrastructure to support high-resolution workflows
- Liaise with relevant team members to improve post-production workflows and infrastructure
- Act as a technical point of contact for clients, and work with manufacturers and vendors to develop tailored solutions
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of Avid Media Composer and Avid-based workflows
- Proven experience in high-end post-production environments
- Client-focused approach with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Experience supporting clients, editors, and production teams in a post-production setting
- Client-facing experience within a post-production facility, with a professional and responsive approach
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team
- Comfortable working unsociable hours on occasion, as needed
