This is a foundational hire, so a rare opportunity to build the entire UK People function from the ground up as part of the founding team.
The Opportunity
This is far more than a traditional HR role. You’ll be the go‑to People lead in the UK, partnering closely with leadership locally and globally, while setting up the infrastructure needed to scale a high‑growth business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- People Ops & Build
- Set up and own all UK HR infrastructure (payroll, benefits, policies, systems)
- Ensure compliance with UK employment law, working closely with HQ in Hong Kong
- Build scalable processes to support rapid team growth
- Hiring & Talent
- Lead hiring strategy end-to-end across all business areas
- Partner with leadership to define hiring plans and deliver at pace
- Build strong talent pipelines and elevate candidate experience
- Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted advisor to the UK MD and leadership team
- Use data and insights to challenge and influence business decisions
- Coach managers and drive performance, engagement and team effectiveness
- Culture & Launch
- Play a key role in launching and embedding company culture in London
- Drive engagement, team initiatives and local
- Act as the “eyes and ears” for HQ
What We’re Looking For
- 8–10 years’ experience within HR, ideally in startup / scale‑up environments
- Strong People Ops foundation with proven ability to build from scratch
- Experience working with global teams / overseas HQ
- Commercial, confident and comfortable challenging stakeholders
- Proactive, curious and genuinely excited by the business and mission
- Able to operate independently in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
- Huge plus: Cantonese or Mandarin skills (given close collaboration with Hong Kong HQ)
