The studio is a newly formed entity within a family office team for a UK-based HNWI. It has been established to bring top design talent in-house, reducing the need for outsourcing, and, due to the HNWI’s emphasis on privacy and discretion, there is limited public information available about the company.

The studio is seeking an Architect or Architectural Technologist to support the delivery of a Grade II Listed residential dwelling conversion into a 7-suite boutique hotel. The project is currently on site, with RIBA Work Stages 4 and 5 running concurrently following a two-stage tender process. With the main contractor now appointed and first-fix MEP nearing completion, this role will join the project team at a critical point in delivery. The successful candidate will focus on developing detailed construction information, responding to contractor queries, and supporting site progress through close collaboration with the wider consultant and construction teams. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a small, high-calibre team on a prestigious project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the project delivery at RIBA Work Stage 5, with ongoing Stage 4 technical development
  • Produce detailed construction drawings and technical details in response to site conditions and contractor input
  • Liaise closely with the main contractor, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve RFIs and on-site technical queries efficiently
  • Support elements of contract administration, including RFIs, CVIs, submittals, and input into instructions
  • Assist in resolving construction-stage design and coordination issues while maintaining design intent and statutory compliance
  • Apply strong knowledge of Building Regulations, particularly in the context of converting a listed domestic building to a commercial hospitality use
  • Collaborate effectively with the internal studio team to ensure coordinated and timely delivery
  • Attend site regularly and engage proactively with the construction team as works progress
Experience & Qualifications
  • Qualified Architect or Architectural Technologist with proven experience delivering projects at RIBA Stages 4 and 5
  • Strong technical and construction detailing capability
  • Experience working on listed or heritage buildings, ideally within refurbishment or change-of-use projects
  • Solid understanding of UK Building Regulations and their practical application
  • Experience liaising directly with contractors and responding to RFIs and site-based technical issues
  • Familiarity with contract administration processes, including RFIs, CVIs, and submittals
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to integrate into a live project team

This is an opportunity to join a live Grade II* listed boutique hotel project at a pivotal stage of construction, offering hands-on involvement, technical responsibility, and flexibility across studio, site, and home working.
