Our exclusive client, NMB Minebea UK, part of a multi-billion-dollar global manufacturing group with operations across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, is renowned for precision engineering and the production of mission-critical components. This Junior Process Engineer role is based at Doddington Road, Lincoln (LN6 3RA), working within the Engineering Department to support the analysis, development, and optimisation of manufacturing processes across the site. You'll gain hands-on experience working closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams, contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with Time & Motion studies to help establish standard times for manufacturing operations
- Supporting the analysis of machine cycle times against production targets
- Identifying inefficiencies and areas for improvement within production processes
- Helping to develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation
- Supporting production teams to ensure machines are set and operated correctly
- Observing operator methods to promote safe and efficient working practices
- Assisting with workflow improvements and line balancing activities
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve productivity
- Working with Quality teams to ensure processes meet required standards
- Supporting new product introductions by helping define process flows and requirements
- Assisting in training operators on best practices and standard methods
- Collaborating with Maintenance to ensure equipment performance meets process needs
- Collecting and analysing production data to support improvement activities
- Participating in cost reduction and efficiency projects
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards and company procedures
Qualifications
- Some experience (placement, apprenticeship, or 1-2 years) in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- An interest in process improvement, manufacturing performance, or production engineering
- Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles (or willingness to learn)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Ability to work collaboratively with shop floor teams and engineers
- Good communication skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree/HNC/HND in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or similar)
- Exposure to Time & Motion studies or process analysis
- Awareness of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
- Experience within a manufacturing or production environment
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
