Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across the engineering function, ensuring consistency, quality and compliance across all projects.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical and process engineering disciplines, promoting collaboration and best practice.
- Manage engineering workload, priorities and resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects.
- Ensure engineering designs satisfy customer specifications, contractual requirements and applicable legislation.
- Maintain compliance with CE/UKCA requirements and relevant and international engineering standards.
- Lead engineering reviews, design verification and technical sign-off activities.
- Review technical proposals, quotations and tender submissions to ensure technical feasibility, compliance and commercial robustness.
- Support project delivery teams by resolving complex technical issues and providing engineering guidance.
- Work closely with procurement, manufacturing and commissioning teams to ensure efficient project execution.
- Mentor and develop engineers, supporting professional development and succession planning.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, documentation and technical standards.
About You
You will be an experienced engineering professional with the ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in a design, manufacturing or engineered-to-order environment.
You should have:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Significant experience within engineering design, manufacturing, capital equipment or industrial projects.
- Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.Strong knowledge of engineering legislation, technical standards and CE/UKCA compliance.
- Broad technical understanding across mechanical, electrical and process engineering disciplines.
- Experience reviewing engineering designs, technical specifications and customer proposals.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative, quality-driven and safety-focused approach.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards professional registration.
- Experience within combustion, thermal processing, environmental technologies, industrial process plant or similar sectors.
- Experience delivering international engineering projects and working with overseas standards and regulations.
- Previous line management and team development experience.
- Familiarity with CAD systems, PLC/control systems and engineering management software.
