Our client is a well-established Retail and Commercial Contractor delivering projects across the UK with values of up to £15 million. Due to continued growth, they are currently seeking an experienced Construction Health & Safety Manager to oversee and maintain health, safety, & high compliance standards on a distribution project based in Leyland, Lancashire.

This role requires a proactive and organised individual with strong knowledge of construction health & safety legislation who can support site teams, ensure compliance with regulations, and promote a positive safety culture across the project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing and managing health & safety compliance across the construction site
  • Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with current HSE legislation and company policies
  • Conducting regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Identifying hazards and implementing appropriate control measures
  • Delivering site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
  • Supporting site management and subcontractors to maintain safe working practices
  • Investigating incidents, near misses, and accidents and producing detailed reports
  • Monitoring subcontractor compliance with health & safety procedures
  • Maintaining accurate safety documentation and records
  • Liaising with site management, clients, and regulatory bodies when required
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a Construction Health & Safety Manager or similar H&S role within construction or fit-out projects
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH Certificate) (required)
  • Valid CSCS Card (required)
  • SMSTS or equivalent site safety management training (desirable)
  • First Aid at Work Certificate (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of UK construction health & safety legislation and best practice
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
