Help Shape the UKs Energy Future
Senior Methods Engineer Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C. As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low‑carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Main Civil Works Section.
What will you do?
- The CWA is recruiting a Senior Methods Engineer to join the Main Civils delivery team on one of the UKs most significant infrastructure programmes. This is a key technical leadership role, embedded within the Nuclear Island civils works, where the successful candidate will shape how complex permanent civil structures are safely and efficiently constructed.
- Lead the development of initial construction method statements to inform detailed design and future construction activities.
- Support constructability reviews, value engineering and option studies across permanent civils works.
- Champion Safe by Design and engineered safety principles throughout engineering solutions.
- Provide construction engineering input to designers and stakeholders during the pre‑construction phase.
- Manage and coordinate a team of methods and digital engineers.
- Interface with commercial, procurement, HSE, project controls and construction teams to ensure integrated delivery.
- Review and challenge design proposals to de‑risk solutions, optimise programmes and reduce cost and quantities.
- Capture lessons learned and best practice from comparable nuclear and major infrastructure projects.
What are we looking for?
- Degree‑qualified in Civil Engineering with membership (or working towards) a relevant professional body.
- Significant experience delivering civil engineering works for a main contractor environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy reinforced concrete, reinforcement prefabrication, temporary works and lifting solutions.
- Proven ability to lead technical teams and coordinate multi‑disciplinary stakeholders.
- Confidence producing construction methodologies, sketches, and 3D model‑based visualisations.
- Experience using tools such as Revit, Navisworks and digital collaboration platforms.
- A collaborative mindset, comfortable working within an alliance environment.
- Experience in the power or nuclear sector is desirable, but not essential.
