Hays Recruitment has partnered with Leicestershire County Council to find a Senior Technical Specialist with strong knowledge of Unified Communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Own, support, install, and implement IT infrastructure solutions related to Unified Comms and corporate email delivery.
  • Liaise with team members, the wider IT department, and customers.
  • Advise on technical and security standards to ensure compliance, security, and high service availability.
  • Co‑coordinate small teams of technicians to deliver new services and service improvements.
  • Mentor and guide technical specialists and other technical staff.
  • Manage all aspects of networking, including network‑related security, cloud, hosted and SaaS, PaaS & IaaS services, telephony and unified communications, messaging and email services, identity management, load balancing, certificate management, Windows Server administration, disaster recovery, remote access services, and enterprise mobility management.
  • Occasional out‑of‑hours requirements for planned works or major incidents; will need to be within an hour of the location and have one's own transport.
  • Other duties as required, including future‑proofing perimeter security against future threats.

Qualifications:

  • In‑depth experience of Unified Communications, ideally in a public sector organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in messaging, Exchange and O365.
  • Experience and understanding of secure email gateways.
  • Strong understanding of email routing.
  • Ability to demonstrate awareness of the end‑to‑end Unified Communications stack.
  • Ability to manage the life cycle and become an expert in your tech stack.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft, Oracle, Solaris, Linux and VMWare is advantageous.
  • Strong desire to future‑proof perimeter security against future threats.
  • Ability to mentor and share knowledge.
