Main Purpose of the Role

  • Support the HSE Manager in all health, safety, and environmental matters
  • Provide reliable HSE advice across internal departments
  • Deputise for the HSE Manager when required

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Environmental and Health & Safety Management System (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 standards)
  • Conduct internal HSE audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Deliver toolbox talks on health and safety topics
  • Assist in accident and incident investigations and support corrective actions
  • Compile and present HSE statistics for management and committee meetings
  • Challenge unsafe practices and behaviours across the business
  • Assist in waste management and reduction initiatives
  • Support overall HSE compliance across the organisation
  • Review and assist with updates to policies and procedures
  • Implement company HSE policies and procedures
  • Produce monthly reports, newsletters, and safety bulletins
  • Support supervisors with risk assessments and method statements
  • Maintain inspection records and recommend improvements
  • Stay up to date with HSE legislation and industry developments
  • Manage and organise safe disposal of hazardous substances
  • Provide advice on specialist HSE areas (e.g. fire safety, COSHH, noise, machinery safety, occupational health risks)

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role
  • Strong understanding of production/manufacturing processes
  • Experience with COSHH assessments
  • Experience preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements
  • Experience supporting or facilitating external audits
  • Experience delivering toolbox talks
  • Environmental management experience
  • Strong organisational skills
