As part of an ongoing growth strategy, a leading law firm is seeking an Associate to join its Leeds-based Infrastructure, Projects & Energy team. The successful candidate will help service a growing roster of major clients across infrastructure, energy and utilities, transport, health, local authorities and central government.

What to Expect in the Role

  • Transport – advising on the procurement of new rolling stock, rolling stock modification projects, light and heavy rail franchising, in‑life management, transfer schemes and franchise mobilisation, as well as a variety of general commercial and operational contracts across the wider transport sector.
  • Energy – advising energy and renewables clients on project development, M&A, regulated energy and public procurement. Renewables and alternative energy are front and centre of the practice.
  • Social infrastructure – advising on projects and matters related to public assets and services that support communities, including schools, hospitals and roads. The team has a strong tradition in PFI and PPP work across both public and private sector clients.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • At least 1 year's PQE within Infrastructure, Projects & Energy, or a Commercial Contracts background
  • Familiarity with project development, M&A and public procurement in the energy and infrastructure sectors
  • Awareness of PFI/PPP models and relevant legal and commercial structures for social infrastructure and transport projects
  • Strong technical legal skills, including drafting, negotiation and interpretation of complex contracts
  • Inquisitive approach with a genuine desire to understand clients, their drivers and what matters to them
