Site Manager – Groundworks
Location: Lancaster Duration: 6+ months Hours: 44 hours per week (with potential for overtime)
You will be working for a well-established groundworks contractor with a strong presence across the North West.
The business has an excellent track record of delivering complex infrastructure and civil engineering schemes.
Due to ongoing growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to support a major new‑build project in Lancaster.
Your new role
As Site Manager, you will oversee day‑to‑day operations on a large‑scale new‑build project within a secure environment, taking responsibility for delivering key groundworks and deep drainage packages safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Manage all site activities relating to groundworks and deep drainage, supervising site teams, subcontractors, and plant operations.
- Ensure strict compliance with health & safety procedures, particularly in a secure setting.
- Drive programme delivery and meet key milestones.
- Conduct toolbox talks, inductions, and site meetings.
- Monitor quality of works in line with project specifications.
- Report progress and liaise with senior stakeholders.
- What you’ll need to succeed
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within groundworks and deep drainage (essential).
- Experience using an i Pad or similar for logging of jobs on site (essential).
- Strong background delivering drainage schemes, foundations, and associated civils packages.
- Experience working on large‑scale or secure projects (desirable).
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification (essential).
- Good working knowledge of health & safety regulations.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast‑paced environment.
