A well-established chemical manufacturing company in Hertfordshire is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the site engineering function. This role will be responsible for maintaining plant performance, delivering engineering projects, and managing a small engineering team to support safe and efficient production operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support to meet EHS, quality, service, and cost KPIs.
  • Ensure plant and equipment operate efficiently to maximise OEE.
  • Manage and oversee the scheduled maintenance programme, ensuring work is completed and documented correctly.
  • Lead the design, specification, and installation of new plant and equipment.
  • Work closely with production to agree equipment specifications and project requirements.
  • Coordinate engineering work, parts, and resources.
  • Carry out risk assessments and ensure engineering work is conducted safely.
  • Lead and develop the site engineering team.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Engineering leadership experience within a manufacturing or process environment.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
  • Strong IT skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within chemical or process manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Sage, Lotus Notes, or similar systems.

Qualifications

Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification.
