Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Planner to provide expert planning support across multiple contracts, ensuring programmes are delivered in line with client expectations and contractual requirements. This is a key leadership role within the business, offering the opportunity to influence project delivery, mentor planning teams, and support the successful execution of complex infrastructure and construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with operational, commercial, and estimating teams, acting as a trusted advisor on programme management, project risks, and recovery strategies. You will be fully embedded within project teams while also providing oversight and consistency across planning activities throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage contract programmes to ensure all submission dates and contractual obligations are achieved.
  • Lead weekly internal programme review meetings with site teams to monitor progress against baseline programmes.
  • Prepare and submit formal monthly contract programmes across multiple live projects.
  • Produce detailed narrative reports to accompany programme submissions, tailored to individual client requirements.
  • Develop and maintain 4-week lookahead programmes in collaboration with site delivery teams.
  • Advise project teams on delays, risks, critical path impacts, and programme recovery solutions.
  • Review subcontractor programmes, providing critical feedback and recommendations.
  • Liaise with project teams regarding the acceptance or rejection of subcontractor submissions.
  • Support the commercial team with Compensation Event and Extension of Time (EOT) submissions.
  • Assist the estimating team with tender programmes, methodologies, and construction sequencing.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to planners and trainees across the business.
  • Promote consistency in planning standards, systems, and reporting processes.
  • Represent the business at client meetings and provide senior-level planning expertise where required.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in a Senior Planner or Planning Manager role within construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of programme management principles and contractual planning requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting commercial teams with delay analysis, EOTs, and compensation events.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop others.
  • Advanced proficiency in industry-standard planning software such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong analytical capability.
