Finance Analyst | Global Publishing Business | London (Hybrid)
Our client is a well-established business operating in the creative and media space, with a broad catalogue of content and a strong commercial focus. The UK operation sits within a larger international structure and has a finance function that is genuinely embedded in how the business makes decisions.
They are looking for a commercially minded analyst to join the team at a point where financial insight and digital performance are increasingly central to how the business operates.
The Role
As Finance Analyst, you will report to the Head of Commercial Finance and work closely with Finance Managers across the adult and children's divisions. The role sits at the intersection of financial reporting and commercial decision-making, with a particular focus on digital publishing.
Day to day, you will take ownership of:
- Weekly eBook sales reporting
- Managing divisional marketing and publicity budgets
- Producing profitability reviews
- Handling the financial reporting of joint venture arrangements
- Sub-rights analysis
- Stock reporting
- Sales analysis across multiple channels

Responsibilities
- Track and report on digital sales performance week to week, pulling out the key trends and what they mean for the business
- Monitor marketing and publicity budgets across divisions, flagging where spend is or isn't working
- Partner with non-finance teams across the business, translating financial data into clear insights that support decision-making at all levels
- Support with the financial reporting for joint venture arrangements, including issuing statements to relevant parties
- Run profitability reviews across titles and authors
- Produce regular analysis across sub-rights, stock, and backlist sales
- Support senior members of the finance team with reporting and analysis across the business
- Pull and manipulate large datasets in Excel to surface insights for the wider team
- Build a solid understanding of what drives performance across the business and how finance fits into that picture
- Ad hoc tasks to support the wider finance team
What We Need to See (Essential)
- 2+ years' experience in a finance role, where you've had exposure to some commercial or FP&A activity
- Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPS, SUMIFS, Pivot Tables, etc.)
- Strong communication skills
- Previous experience in the media, entertainment or creative industries
- A passion and love for books/the literary and publishing industry
Package:
- Salary: £35,000-£45,000
- Working Pattern: Hybrid (2 days in-office, 3 days work from home)
