HR & Compliance Manager

Kensington, London (with hybrid working)

The Company

Our client is an investment firm that brings together resources from around the world to invest across Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. Working across different asset classes, they seek out exceptional companies, individuals and opportunities in the real economy, with a focus on delivering strong returns for their investors.

Their mission is to create long-term value for investors while making a positive impact on the communities around them. Guided by integrity, responsible investment and an entrepreneurial spirit, they aim to become a leading partner for investors seeking unique opportunities, while attracting and developing talented people who share their commitment to excellence.

They are now looking for an HR & Compliance Manager to join them on a permanent, part-time basis, working 8 hours per week.

The Benefits

  • Salary of £10,000 per annum (circa £24 per hour)
  • Statutory holiday allowance (pro rata)
  • Workplace pension

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced HR or compliance professional with strong knowledge of right-to-work requirements and employment law to join our client’s ambitious investment organisation.

You’ll have the chance to take ownership of a highly trusted area of the business, acting as Authorising Officer and helping ensure HR and sponsorship compliance is managed accurately, giving you real autonomy and visibility in the role.

What’s more, with just eight working hours per week required and the freedom to choose when you work those hours, this role offers exceptional flexibility around your existing commitments. Combined with hybrid working, it’s an ideal opportunity to take on meaningful, senior-level responsibility, whilst achieving a great work/life balance.

The Role

As the HR & Compliance Manager, you will lead HR and sponsorship compliance, ensuring our client meets their responsibilities as a Home Office sponsor licence holder.

Acting as the Authorising Officer, you will oversee the Sponsorship Management System and ensure sponsored workers are recruited and managed lawfully. You will maintain accurate records, report relevant changes within required timescales and ensure Certificates of Sponsorship are assigned appropriately.

You will also oversee wider HR compliance, including right-to-work checks, people policies and record-keeping, while supervising external immigration or HR providers.

Additionally, you will:

  • Approve Key Contact and Level 1 and Level 2 Users
  • Maintain and update the sponsor licence as required
  • Prepare for Home Office compliance visits
  • Monitor external advisers’ activity on the SMS
  • Maintain recruitment and attendance policies
  • Ensure required records are maintained for sponsored workers

Please note, some Home Office reporting deadlines are short, so you must be reachable on non-working days for urgent approvals. You must also be able to attend compliance visits at short notice.

About You

To be considered as an HR & Compliance Manager, you will need:

  • Experience in HR, operations or compliance, in roles with the authority to make decisions
  • Working knowledge of UK right-to-work checks and employment law
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills
  • Confidence in overseeing external advisers and challenging their work

Due to your work with the Home Office in this role, you will also need:

  • No unspent convictions for relevant offences, such as fraud, immigration offences or money laundering
  • No history of civil penalties for illegal working, and not to be linked to a sponsor whose licence was revoked in the last 12 months
  • Not to be an undischarged bankrupt or a disqualified director

Please note, the successful candidate will need to complete a basic criminal record (DBS) check and provide right-to-work documents.

Other organisations may call this role Human Resources & Compliance Manager, HR Manager, Human Resources Manager, HR & Immigration Manager, Immigration Compliance Manager, Sponsorship Compliance Manager, or People & Compliance Manager.

Webrecruit and our clients are equal opportunities employers, value and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.
