Salary: up to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Initially Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 5.30pm for training, then moving to 2.00pm - 10.30pm (no weekends), with some flexibility required.
We are looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to provide hands-on health and safety support across our busy onsite operation, which includes 5 warehouses and 550 staff. Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, managers and team leaders, you will help ensure a safe working environment by supporting compliance, carrying out inspections, completing risk assessments, investigating incidents and promoting a positive safety culture across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice and guidance on health and safety legislation, best practice and company procedures
- Carry out risk assessments, site inspections, audits and behavioural observations
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, recommending corrective actions
- Support safe systems of work across areas such as yard traffic, pedestrian segregation, loading bays, racking, MHE routes, balers/compactors and maintenance tasks
- Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings
- Support contractor control, permits to work, RAMS reviews and safe hand-back processes
- Maintain accurate health and safety records and audit evidence
- Coach managers and team leaders on safe working practices and compliance
Skills and Experience Required
- Previous experience in a health and safety role
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent, or working towards
- Good working knowledge of health and safety legislation
- Experience with risk assessments, incident investigations and internal audits
- Working knowledge of COSHH, PUWER, LOLER and permit to work processes
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage employees at all levels
- Organised, practical and detail focused
- Full UK driving licence
