Job Description
YT Tech is partnering with a defence organisation looking for a systems engineer on a permanent basis.
On behalf of this company, we are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic, and highly experienced Systems Engineer to join their dynamic R&D team.
This is a hands‑on design and technical leadership role where you will take complete ownership of system designs, guiding products from initial concept through to manufacture and through‑life support.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Integration: Participate in the full development, integration, verification, and validation of advanced engineering projects.
- Requirements & Specifications: Produce comprehensive requirement specifications in line with customer and product goals.
- Testing & Diagnostics: Formulate and execute test strategies, plans, and procedures; evaluate prototypes and handle fault‑finding and resolution.
- Cross‑Functional
Leadership: Provide technical oversight and collaborate closely with a multi‑disciplinary internal team (Software, RF, PCB Layout, Mechanical) and external partners.
- Mentorship: Act as a technical mentor to less experienced engineers as the team continues to grow.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with suppliers, manage in‑house/external production, and engage with clients to elicit requirements and provide technical support.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Lifecycle Methodologies: Strong experience across the full engineering lifecycle, utilizing formal frameworks such as the V‑model and Agile development.
- Technical Debugging: Proven ability to test and debug complex systems across hardware, software, and FPGA firmware domains.
- Documentation: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of authoring requirements, design specs, and test plans.
- Engineering Tools: Experience managing Configuration Items and Bo Ms using Aras Innovator (or equivalent PLM), alongside tools like IBM DOORS, Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
Desirable (but not essential) Skills
- A background in electronics or RF design, radio systems, and the use of RF test equipment.
- Previous domain experience in EW/ECM, C‑UAS, or similar defence‑sector radio products.
- Automated Test Equipment (ATE) software development experience (e. g., Python) and working knowledge of Linux.
- Experience defining and executing formal qualification testing (EMC, environmental, safety) in line with standards like Def Stan, MIL‑STD, or ISO.
