A well‑established and highly regarded manufacturer within the aerosols and bag‑on‑valve sector is seeking an experienced Head of Procurement & Supply Chain to join its senior leadership team. Operating within a regulated, multi‑sector manufacturing environment, the business supplies products across personal care, healthcare/medical devices, veterinary, household, automotive, and technical markets. The organisation forms part of a successful UK‑based group with a long‑standing heritage and a strong commitment to quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for end‑to‑end procurement and supply chain operations. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure supply chain strategies fully support operational performance, customer delivery, cost control, and quality objectives. The role requires a blend of strategic leadership, operational excellence, and stakeholder engagement, with the autonomy to shape and evolve supply chain practices across the business.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all procurement and supply chain activities, including sourcing, planning, inventory management, logistics & supplier performance
- Develop & execute procurement strategies aligned with business objectives, balancing cost, quality & delivery
- Optimise raw material & component inventory to support production schedules & customer demand
- Design & manage stock‑holding strategies including safety stock, consignment stock & vendor‑managed inventory
- Collaborate directly with customers to develop bespoke supply chain solutions & support contractual commitments
- Present & defend inventory & logistics models both internally & externally
- Lead, mentor & develop a high‑performing procurement & supply chain team
- Build strong cross‑functional partnerships across manufacturing, quality, finance & commercial teams
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, waste reduction & operational efficiencies
- Identify & deliver cost‑saving opportunities & performance improvements
- Lead supplier negotiations & contract management, ensuring commercially robust & compliant agreements
- Manage sourcing risk & supplier resilience
- Utilise SAGE ERP systems to support procurement & supply chain execution
- Undertake occasional international travel to support supplier engagement
- Proven experience in a senior procurement or supply chain leadership role, ideally within manufacturing
- Strong people leadership skills with a track record of building & developing high‑performing teams
- Advanced experience working with ERP systems (SAGE strongly)
- Deep understanding of supplier contracts, terms & conditions
- Demonstrated capability across the full sourcing lifecycle, including negotiation & performance management
- Excellent communication & influencing skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels
- Commercially astute, analytical & delivery focused
