Senior Quantity Surveyor | Portsmouth | £55k - £75k DOE

Bennett & Game are working with a well-established regional contractor based in Portsmouth, delivering a diverse range of commercial, residential, refurbishment and fit-out projects across the South. With a forecast turnover of £14m this year and a strong pipeline of secured work, the business continues to grow and is now looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their expanding commercial team. Project values range from £15k to £7M. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor seeking a long-term position within a growing contractor, taking ownership of projects from pre-construction through to final account while supporting the wider commercial function.

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Job Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects from inception to completion
  • Preparing and submitting valuations, variations, cost reports and final accounts
  • Managing subcontract procurement, negotiation and account administration
  • Producing accurate forecasts, budgets and cash flow reports
  • Identifying commercial risks and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Working closely with operational teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure commercial objectives are achieved
  • Supporting tender reviews, cost planning and value engineering exercises
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and ensuring contractual compliance
  • Mentoring and supporting junior commercial team members where required

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
  • Experience delivering commercial, residential, refurbishment and/or fit-out projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management processes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong numerical, commercial and contractual awareness
  • Full UK driving licence
