A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Graduate or Assistant Transport Planner to join a growing and well‑established transport planning consultancy based in Central Birmingham. This consultancy works on a wide range of development‑led transport planning projects across the UK, supporting planning applications for residential, commercial and mixed‑use developments. Due to continued growth, they are looking to bring in a motivated early‑career transport planner to support their expanding Midlands team. This role would suit either a recent graduate or someone with 1‑2 years' experience in transport planning who is looking to develop their career within a supportive consultancy environment. You will support senior consultants across a range of transport planning projects and gain exposure to the full development planning process.
Typical Responsibilities
- Assisting with Transport Assessments and Transport Statements
- Supporting the preparation of Travel Plans
- Assisting with traffic modelling and junction capacity assessments
- Analysing transport data and preparing technical reports
- Producing technical drawings and supporting planning submissions
- Liaising with internal teams, clients and local authorities
- Supporting wider transport planning and development projects
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
- Strong analytical and report writing skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the wider Office suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in development planning and transport infrastructure
- Exposure to AutoCAD, ARCADY, PICADY or LINSIG would be advantageous but not essential
