We’re hiring an experienced HVAC Engineer to join a leading engineering team in Gateshead. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a large-scale, fast-paced critical environment, supporting the maintenance and operation of HVAC and mechanical building services systems across a busy operational site.
Location: Gateshead
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum
Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on HVAC and mechanical systems
- Fault finding, servicing, and repairing air conditioning and ventilation equipment
- Maintaining AHUs, FCUs, chillers, and associated plant equipment
- Supporting plant room inspections and routine maintenance activities
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with Health & Safety and compliance standards
- Completing maintenance reports and documentation accurately
- Working closely with the wider engineering and site teams to ensure smooth operations
Qualifications:
- F-Gas Category 1 qualification (essential)
- Previous experience within a commercial maintenance or Facilities Management environment
- Strong HVAC fault-finding and maintenance experience
- Good understanding of mechanical building services systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
Desirable:
- Experience working within critical or fast‑paced environments
- Multi‑skilled maintenance experience
- Knowledge of compliance and plant room operations
