- About the Opportunity
Robert Half is partnering with a successful retail and e-commerce business to recruit a Fraud & Risk Manager.
This is a newly created leadership opportunity for an experienced fraud, risk, and controls professional looking to make a significant impact within a fast-paced commercial environment.
Reporting into the Finance function, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing fraud prevention strategies, risk management frameworks, and financial controls across the organisation.
You will play a critical role in protecting company assets, strengthening governance processes, and ensuring operational risks are effectively identified and mitigated.
This position offers strong visibility across the business and regular interaction with senior stakeholders, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who combines technical expertise with strong leadership and influencing skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance fraud prevention, monitoring, and response frameworks.
- Monitor transactional activity to identify suspicious trends, unusual behaviours, and potential fraud risks.
- Lead fraud investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Perform regular risk assessments and develop practical mitigation strategies.
- Oversee customer and supplier onboarding controls, ensuring robust due diligence and governance processes.
- Partner with Finance, Credit Control, Sales, Operations, IT, and Procurement teams to strengthen controls and improve processes.
- Design, document, and monitor internal control frameworks to support audit and compliance activities.
- Identify emerging fraud risks, control weaknesses, and process improvement opportunities.
- Build relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, payment providers, and fraud prevention partners.
- Prepare and present fraud, risk, and control reporting to senior management and leadership teams.
- Lead, develop, and mentor team members (4 x fte) responsible for fraud checks and onboarding processes.
About You
- We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded professional with:
- Proven experience within fraud prevention, risk management, financial controls, or internal controls environments.
- Previous people management experience with the ability to coach, support, and develop teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using Power BI for reporting and analysis.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- The confidence to challenge, influence, and collaborate with colleagues across multiple business functions.
- A proactive approach to risk identification and continuous improvement.
- The ability to balance operational responsibilities with longer-term strategic initiatives.
- Experience within the e-commerce, retail or FMCG industry would be highly advantageous.
