A well-established and growing logistics operator is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join their high-performing transport team. This is a key role within the business, responsible for overseeing daily planning operations, managing drivers, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across major UK ports. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving efficiency, supporting the planning team, and maintaining strong customer relationships in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily transport planning across key UK ports (including Felixstowe, London Gateway, and Southampton)
- Manage vehicle allocation to ensure maximum utilisation, revenue, and service performance
- Lead, support, and develop a team of planners and drivers
- Ensure all operational issues are resolved efficiently and proactively
- Manage VBS bookings and ensure accuracy across all port systems
- Maintain strong communication with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders
- Travel between depots as required to support operations
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in transport planning (container / haulage)
- At least 2 years’ experience in a senior or supervisory planning role
- Strong knowledge of UK ports and VBS systems
- Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure
- Strong communication and customer-facing ability
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- IT literate with experience in transport systems
