What You’ll Do

We have an opportunity for a Test Equipment/Facility Design Engineer supporting the design, development and qualification of aircraft fuel and inerting system solutions. The role is based at our Eaton Ltd site in Titchfield, Hampshire. This role will be the team focal point for the design and manufacture of new test fixtures and test equipment as well as supporting the Engineering Services Manager in maintaining the regulatory compliance of the extensive test facility’s.

Lead the requirements capture, design development and implementation of test rigs, test stands and fixtures.

Manage the test equipment requests, scoping the required work and resources.

Define test equipment design requirements from functional need, complete test rig and test fixture design (knowledge of Creo, training available).

Support Engineering Services Manager in maintaining test facility regulatory compliance.

Co‑ordinate and lead subcontracted test rig and fixture design, support to factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing and rig handover.

Prepare and review technical documentation (engineering proposals, performance specifications, technical reports and papers) in accordance with company procedures.

Project manage allocated design tasks, defining time and implementation plan.

Excellent communication skills required to create and maintain working relationships across multi‑disciplinary teams. Works individually or as part of a team, and with other engineering or cross‑functional disciplines to deliver as per customer needs and expectations.

Qualifications

Apprenticeship in an Engineering Discipline or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant subject, 5 years working in a relevant role.

  • Knowledge of aircraft fuel system components – desirable.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including design of structural components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience of writing technical reports / requirement specifications.
  • Experience of test rig and fixture design.
  • Understanding of test rig controls and instrumentation – desirable.
  • Working understanding of ATEX regulations and associated equipment – desirable (training available).
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and risk register documentation – desirable.
  • Problem solving, creativity and innovation.
