About the Company
Our client is a leading contractor with an established reputation for delivering high-quality construction and infrastructure projects across the South West. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join their expanding team in Devon.
The Role
As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and delivery of structural solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects. Working closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders, you will ensure structural integrity, compliance, and efficient project delivery from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyse structural elements using appropriate engineering principles and software.
- Prepare structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Undertake site inspections and structural surveys.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and current regulations.
- Support project delivery by providing technical expertise throughout construction phases.
- Identify and resolve engineering challenges and provide practical solutions.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, and programme management where required.
- Review and approve design work produced by junior engineers and technicians.
- Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
Requirements
- Essential: Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within a structural engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of structural design principles and UK building regulations.
- Experience working on commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficient in structural design software and engineering calculations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Desirable: Chartered or working towards Chartered status (ICE or IStructE).
- Experience using AutoCAD, Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS, or similar software.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of temporary works design and construction methodologies.
