First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who are seeking a Plumbing & Gas Engineer to join their growing operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with a strong background in plumbing, gas systems, and general building maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a portfolio of commercial sites working in buildings for offices and commercial kitchens, ensuring all systems are operating safely and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on plumbing and gas systems across commercial properties
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs on pipework, taps, toilets, water systems, and commercial gas appliances
- Conduct routine inspections and identify potential maintenance or safety issues
- Carry out leak detection, pipe repairs, and general plumbing works
- Service and maintain commercial heating and hot water systems where required
- Liaise with specialist contractors and oversee works when necessary
- Complete maintenance records and ensure compliance documentation is up to date
- Support with general building maintenance tasks when required
- Ensure all works are completed in line with current Gas Safe regulations and health and safety standards
- Respond promptly to maintenance callouts and emergency repairs
- Provide a professional and customer-focused service when interacting with tenants and clients
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Plumbing & Gas Engineer within commercial environments
- Valid Gas Safe registration
- Good knowledge of commercial plumbing and gas systems
- Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
- Basic understanding of HVAC and building maintenance systems desirable
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Good awareness of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
- Full UK driving licence desirable
