This opportunity sits within a well-established UK construction group with a turnover in excess of £1bn, delivering projects across sectors including commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and public sector frameworks.
The role is part of a dedicated Special Projects Division focused on fast‑paced, technically complex schemes typically ranging from £10m to £30m. Projects are a mix of new build and high‑quality fit‑out/refurbishment, often within live or operational environments. The division operates with a lean, agile structure, offering greater autonomy, faster decision‑making, and closer collaboration between commercial and operational teams—while still benefiting from the financial strength, systems, and reputation of a major contractor. With a strong pipeline of secured work across distribution, defence, and education sectors, the business continues to invest in its people as it grows.
You will take a lead commercial role on projects typically ranging from £10m – £30m, across:
- Distribution and logistics centres
- MOD projects
- Education schemes
Projects are delivered as a mix of new build and fit‑out/refurbishment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of projects from pre‑construction through to final account.
- Manage subcontract procurement, negotiation, and package control.
- Produce cost reports, CVRs, and forecasts.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with project and site teams to drive performance.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain.
- Support and mentor junior commercial staff where required.
About You
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or an experienced Project QS ready to step up.
- Background within a main contractor environment.
- Experience delivering projects valued at £10m+.
- Exposure to sectors such as industrial, defence, or education is advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage projects independently.
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills.
Salary & Package
