Engineering Manager
We are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a growing UK engineering and machinery manufacturer.
This is not a traditional maintenance-focused Engineering Manager role. We’re looking for someone with a strong background in engineering design, machinery manufacture, CAD and product development to lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering function.
Reporting to the Engineering Director, you’ll take responsibility for engineering delivery, technical standards, team development and continuous improvement.
The Role
- Lead and develop the Engineering Department
- Manage engineering workloads, resources and priorities
- Lead CAD/Design and Product Development activities
- Oversee engineering projects from concept through to manufacture
- Review engineering designs, drawings and technical documentation
- Drive standardisation of machine drawings and engineering practices
- Lead NPD, product improvement and engineering innovation
- Manage engineering change control and documentation
- Work closely with Production, Projects, Quality, Procurement and Sales
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and efficiency
What We're Looking For
- Engineering leadership experience within manufacturing, machinery or engineering
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge
- Experience in machinery design and manufacture
- Strong CAD knowledge – SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar
- Experience within a project-based manufacturing environment
- Product Development / NPD experience
- Strong leadership, planning and stakeholder-management skills
- Degree, HNC or HND in a relevant engineering discipline advantageous
Experience within special purpose machinery, capital equipment, automation, materials handling, processing equipment or engineering OEM environments would be particularly relevant.
