Job Description

Location: London / Athens / Hong Kong

Company: Bayforest Technologies

Compensation: Competitive, with performance-based bonus

Bayforest is a multi-award-winning, hyper-growth investment management group (employee-owned, with no venture capital or PE stake) specializing in algorithmic trading. Our robust strategies are powered by the vast amounts of data we process daily and our ability to manage and automate complex data streams efficiently.

Trusted by some of the world’s leading institutions, Bayforest combines a diverse scientific team with a deep commitment to research, engineering excellence, and innovation. This blend of expertise has earned us numerous performance awards and set us apart from the mainstream competition — both for our results and for our distinct, technology-led approach.

We are seeking a DevOps / Trade Support Engineer with a passion for automation, reliability, and scalable systems — ideally with experience in trading operations, data pipelines, and reconciliation workflows. You will work at the intersection of engineering and trading, helping to automate, monitor, and optimize every stage of the trade lifecycle. The role suits someone with a strong software and infrastructure background who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume trading environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and improve Airflow-based orchestration for data and trading jobs.
  • Liaise with counterparties to resolve trade breaks and reconciliation issues promptly.
  • Develop automation tools and monitoring scripts to support data pipelines, trading systems, and reconciliation processes.
  • Automate post-trade reporting workflows for internal and external stakeholders (brokers, investors, and counterparties).
  • Develop and automate data pipelines for research, trading signals, risk metrics, and performance analytics.
  • Enhance system observability using monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Work closely with developers and researchers to enhance post-trade analytics and reporting.
  • Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Automate infrastructure testing and deployment within the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Implement and document security best practices and internal engineering standards.
  • Monitor event-driven systems and trading flows for reliability and latency.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for data retrieval, validation, and analysis.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
  • Demonstrable interest in technology, automation, and system reliability.
  • Strong knowledge of Python and Bash for scripting and automation.
  • Good understanding of Linux administration and command-line utilities.
  • Experience with continuous integration systems (e.g., GitLab CI).
  • Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Exposure to Airflow, Terraform, or Nix is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of FIX protocol, financial instruments, or trade lifecycle processes is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
