Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a leading advanced manufacturing organisation in the recruitment of two Product Engineers to join their growing Ceramic Core Engineering team in Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving technical excellence within a highly specialised manufacturing environment, supporting both new and existing product lines while contributing to continuous improvement and operational performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Core Technical Manager, you will take technical ownership of a portfolio of ceramic core products, ensuring they meet stringent dimensional, quality, and production requirements. You’ll be instrumental in improving manufacturing processes, reducing scrap and rework, and supporting the introduction of more complex, high‑performance products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the production of high‑quality ceramic core products
  • Drive continuous improvement across product and process performance
  • Conduct root cause analysis to reduce scrap and rework
  • Implement and maintain engineering best practices
  • Ensure products meet dimensional and process requirements for casting applications
  • Produce qualification reports and analyse scrap/rework trends
  • Work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve technical issues
  • Manage individual product programmes and timelines
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and support process optimisation
  • Contribute to cost reduction through process improvements

About You

We’re looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented engineer with a strong manufacturing or product engineering background. You will ideally have 4+ years’ experience in a relevant engineering environment. Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in an Engineering discipline. Experience with tooling design and/or CAD / 3D modelling. Knowledge of injection moulding and/or ceramics processing. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles. Familiarity with manufacturing systems and production processes. Strong reporting and documentation skills. High level of IT literacy (e.g. Word, Excel, Project). Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Sound judgement and problem‑solving capability.
