Hello Recruitment are recruiting Mechanical Fitters within the Croydon workshop of a large engineering business.

Core responsibilities:

  • Disassembly, Cleaning, Inspection and Re-assembly of mechanical systems, particularly transmission systems, gearboxes and rotating equipment.
  • Use of precision measuring equipment to make decisions on passing/failing components.
  • Use of overhead and Jib cranes to move heavy equipment safely.
  • Use of basic workshop equipment such as air tools, abrasive wheels, hydraulic presses.
  • Maintain good safety, quality and efficiency levels.
  • Flexibility of skills to carry out testing, basic wiring and mechanical fitting.
  • Maintain good housekeeping, awareness of and adherence to health and safety requirements.
  • Involvement in improvement activities as required.
  • Contribute to daily team stand up meetings.
  • Ability to complete technical documentation as work progresses.
  • To perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Professional Experience & Education:

  • Minimum four years mechanical fitting, preferably on transmission systems, gearboxes and rotating equipment.
  • Preferably time-served apprentice trained or other relevant qualification.
  • A good understanding of machining practices.
  • Experience in safety critical environments such as Rail could be advantageous.
  • A flexible approach to meet customer demands.
  • Good manual dexterity to handle a number of mechanical fitting tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings.
  • Good team player.
  • Full understanding of English to work to detailed technical instructions and to be able to complete documentation accurately.

Package Details:

  • 36.5 working week; 07:00 – 15:00 Mon – Thurs and Fri 07:00 13:30.
  • £30000 – £43000 (dependent on experience).
  • 20 days holiday (pro rata).
  • Annual Bonus (pro rata on year of joining).
  • Pensions 3% EE and 6% ER.
