I’m supporting a well‑established law firm with the appointment of an experienced Compliance Manager to join their team on a fixed‑term basis. This is a key maternity cover role, overseeing day‑to‑day compliance operations and supporting the firm’s regulatory obligations.

The role involves managing the compliance function, supervising a small team and ensuring the firm maintains high standards of risk management and regulatory adherence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising compliance assistants (x2), a client onboarding administrator and a compliance administrator
  • Coordinating the file review process, analysing monthly data, identifying trends and recommending risk‑mitigation actions
  • Handling complex compliance queries
  • Managing complaints processes and maintaining oversight spreadsheets
  • Updating policies and maintaining the central register
  • Ensuring the undertakings register is accurate and up to date
  • Delivering compliance induction training and ad‑hoc training where needed
  • Producing regular Compliance Bulletins
  • Reviewing the risk register monthly and escalating concerns to COLP/COFA
  • Ensuring key documents (e.g., AML Manual, FWRA) remain current
  • Monitoring regulatory and legislative changes and identifying required internal actions
  • Preparing agendas for and leading monthly COLP/COFA meetings
  • Driving the project to reduce old client balances
  • Supporting Lexcel and CQS accreditation processes
  • Conducting legal research
  • Assisting with compliance investigations
  • Drafting and submitting Suspicious Activity Reports or SRA reports
  • Promoting consistent risk management and best practice across the firm
  • Supporting ad‑hoc compliance projects
  • Upholding the firm’s core values: clients, people, teamwork and progressiveness
