Senior Civil Engineer Location: Derby Salary: £40,000 to £52,000 plus benefits
Civil Engineer with 4‑7 years' experience, step into a senior‑level role taking technical ownership of projects, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering high‑quality development infrastructure across the UK. Based in the Derby office, you will work within a well‑established civil and structural engineering team contributing to projects nationwide, ranging from bespoke residential schemes and commercial developments to large industrial sites and major residential projects.
The Role
- Lead the technical delivery of infrastructure packages from feasibility through to approval and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead highways design including S38 and S278 works
- Prepare and review drainage strategies and detailed S104 and S185 designs
- Design SuDS features, earthworks and adoptable infrastructure
- Check drawings, calculations and technical reports
- Liaise with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary teams
- Support Flood Risk Assessments and planning submissions
- Mentor junior engineers and support project coordination
About You
- A degree in Civil Engineering
- 4 to 7 years' UK consultancy experience
- Strong highways and drainage design background
- Confident use of AutoCAD and drainage software
- A client‑facing, proactive and technically thorough approach
