DRMP is a fast‑growing transportation engineering firm in the Southeast, seeking a Chief Bridge/Structures Engineer, P.E., to lead complex DOT bridge and infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Structures Project Manager, Engineer of Record, or Design Lead on multi‑disciplined transportation projects using both conventional and alternative delivery methods.
- Serve as Technical Structures Design Lead for all aspects of bridge design and plans preparation.
- Direct engineering alternatives investigations through the collection and analysis of data, performing calculations, and evaluation of alternate solutions.
- Direct planning, design and production of structural calculations, written reports, engineering drawings, and specifications for projects related to bridge and transportation structures.
- Perform technical reviews (QA/QC) of structural calculations, written reports, engineering drawings, and specifications ensuring appropriate design criteria, procedures and guidelines are followed.
- Lead marketing efforts for bridge project pursuits including FDOT Letters of Response, Presentations and Technical Interviews.
- Support construction phase of projects, including responding to RFIs, review of shop drawings, problem solving, etc.
- Train and mentor junior engineers.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor of Science from an ABET‑accredited university in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer and/or Structural Engineer.
- 15+ years post‑registration structural engineering experience.
- 20+ years of relevant bridge design and plans production experience, which may include reinforced concrete bridges, prestressed/post‑tensioned concrete bridges, steel plate and box girder bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, sign/signal structures, sound barrier walls, and other transportation‑related structures.
- Experience using a variety of bridge design software that may include FB Multi‑Pier, Leap Bridge Concrete, Smartbridge, LARSA, CSI, STAAD, MDX, Shoring Suite, Atlas, and the FDOT suite of FDOT MathCAD analysis worksheets.
- Proficiency in MicroStation, GEOPAK, OpenBridge Modeler, AutoCAD and/or CADD platforms to produce transportation structure designs and plans.
- Ability to do 3‑D modeling in OpenBridge Modeler is a plus.
- Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through the application of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
- Ability to guide junior staff as well as participate in the design and detailing of all aspects of small‑to‑large‑scale multi‑discipline bridge projects of varying technical complexity.
- Construction specialty engineering experience is a plus.
- Experience with post‑tensioning applications is a plus.
- Experience with straddle bent design is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time‑management skills.
- Strong sense of urgency and self‑initiative to meet client deadlines.
- Detail‑oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
- Valid driver’s license with approved/acceptable driving history.
Qualifications
- Masters (MSE/MSCE) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Complex structures design is a plus.
- PE and/or SE certification in Florida or the ability to obtain Florida Registration.
- Familiarity with structural/bridge design process through the application of the FDOT Structures Manual and FDOT Construction Specifications.
