Senior / Lead / Principal DevOps Engineer
Salary: £75,000 – £130,000 per annum
Location: Gloucestershire, 4 days per week on site
Multiple positions available
Applicants must be eligible for the highest level of security clearance.

Overview

This role sits within a specialist engineering team delivering secure, enterprise‑scale cloud and data platforms for UK Government and defence clients. The work focuses on modernising data infrastructure, enabling secure data sharing, and supporting advanced analytics and AI workloads in highly regulated environments.

Projects

Projects range from shorter delivery engagements to long‑term platform builds, delivered within agile teams solving complex, real‑world challenges.

Role

As a Lead DevOps Engineer, you will take a hands‑on role in designing, building and operating secure cloud environments that support both batch and real‑time data platforms. In addition, you will act as a technical lead within the team, helping to shape engineering standards, support delivery, and mentor other engineers.

You will be involved across the full lifecycle, from design and build through to deployment, optimisation and ongoing support, with a strong focus on automation, security and reliability.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver cloud infrastructure and platforms using Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD.

  • Design secure environments aligned to DevSecOps and zero-trust principles.

  • Support production systems, including incident resolution and ongoing maintenance.

  • Contribute to solution design, automation and continuous improvement.

  • Mentor engineers and provide technical direction.

Experience required

You should bring strong experience building and running production‑grade cloud platforms, ideally within secure or regulated environments, along with a practical, hands‑on DevOps mindset.

Technical skills

  • AWS and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Infrastructure-as-Code tooling such as Terraform and/or Ansible.

  • CI/CD pipelines and source control (GitHub, GitLab, Atlassian).

  • Container platforms including Kubernetes, Docker, EKS or AKS.

  • Modern data or event‑driven systems (e.g., Kafka, Flink).

We are proud of the diverse and inclusive community we have built, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and perspectives.
