Position Summary
The Industrial Maintenance canning line Technician will be the subject matter expert for the canning operation. This includes setup, running, troubleshooting and PMs of the canning line consisting of the following: Boiler startup, pre heat startup of blanchers, shakers, slicers, filling machine, cappers and proper lid seal. Scales, de palletizers, Sterilmatic and Rotomat machines, cooling screws, label machines and box case erectors. This position will also be required to do the functions of a technician job duty.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (typically 2-5 years) as an industrial maintenance technician or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment (e.g., multimeters and thermal scanners).
- Familiarity with safety standards and practices in an industrial environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and change motors.
- Familiar with Variable frequency drive (VFD’s) is a plus.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety standards and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in the workplace and report findings to management. Stay informed about the industry’s best practices and compliance requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment. Perform repairs on various types of equipment, including conveyors, motors, pumps, including preventive maintenance. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Ability to learn how to start up and shut down the Ammonia system and boilers. Must be able to troubleshoot and change motors. Familiar with Variable frequency drive (VFD’s) is a plus.
- Installation: Assist in the installation of new equipment and machinery, ensuring proper setup and operational efficiency. Collaborate with engineers and other technicians during equipment upgrades or replacements.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed. Update maintenance logs and inventory for parts and supplies. Generate reports on equipment performance and maintenance trends.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and resolve equipment issues promptly. Communicate effectively with management regarding maintenance needs and scheduling.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting upgrades to current processes and maintenance protocols. Stay updated with new technologies and techniques in industrial maintenance.
Required Skills/Abilities
This position may involve working in noisy or hazardous environments, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional overtime or emergency response may be required, including off-shift and weekend work. During peak season will require 6 days per week.
