Overview
Based in Cambridge, the global organization with offices around the world is looking to recruit a Photonics Lead and a Junior Photonics Engineer.
The roles involve photonic integrated circuits, nano‑ and micro‑fabricated optics, nonlinear systems, quantum photonics, and optical design using tools such as Zemax.
Responsibilities
- Specification, design, fabrication/test, and validation of complex PICs or photonic systems.
- Hands‑on photonic design/simulation (Lumerical, Ansys, Synopsys, or equivalent) and PIC layout (Synopsys, Luceda, Nazca).
- Engagement with the photonics ecosystem (fabs, packaging, test).
- Deep knowledge of PIC platforms (Si Ph, Si N, In P), integration methods and test strategies.
- Proven ability to lead engineers, make technical trade‑offs and collaborate across disciplines.
- Commercial competence and client engagement, as speaking with clients will be part of the role.
Qualifications
- Ph D in Physics, Electronics, or semiconductor‑related technologies.
- Desired Skills
- Experience in photonic/optical compute technologies.
- Experience in high‑speed PICs for data communications.
- Experience in free‑space optical communication.
