An innovative technology company based in Cambridge is looking for a hands-on and versatile Project Engineer to support the development of advanced imaging and inspection systems used across a range of high-tech industries. The Role

As a Project Engineer, you will support the Project Leader in the design, development and improvement of new and existing products. The role will involve a combination of design, prototyping, testing, documentation and customer-focused engineering support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and scope product improvements and new features based on customer feedback and internal development requirements.
  • Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical and Software Engineers, as well as Scientists and Applications teams, to design, prototype, test and evaluate components and sub-assemblies.
  • Produce and maintain project documentation in line with internal development procedures.
  • Create and manage project plans, milestones and deliverables.
  • Liaise with manufacturing teams and suppliers to define requirements and develop solutions.
  • Manage engineering documentation including work instructions and bills of materials.
  • Develop Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) protocols for new products.
  • Support product commissioning, packing and shipping activities.
  • Assist with specialist device builds where required.
  • Provide occasional global site support and customer visits.
  • Support the Project Leader across wider project activities.

  • Strong communication skills across both technical and non-technical teams.
