Job Description
As an Estimator, you will work as part of the wider commercial team, supporting the bid process through the preparation of accurate pricing and effective cost management.
This role will involve responsibility for pre-contract cost elements and contributing to the delivery of robust and competitive estimates, applying strong commercial awareness throughout.
Experience within civil engineering and the utilities sector would be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Tenders
- Conduct site inspections and gather necessary information.
- Analyse tender documentation and identify construction and commercial implications.
- Develop and submit competitive tender strategies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create construction proposals and establish contract durations.
- Prepare tender submissions within Framework Agreement environments.
- Provide management reports on tender activities and outcomes.
- Estimating / Contract Management
- Prepare cost budgets and estimates for new contracts.
- Update existing contracts and maintain client communication.
- Adhere to company standards for estimations, focusing on profit and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare detailed proposals and supplementary documentation.
- Collaborate with contracts manager and design team on client projects.
- Maintain detailed records of estimation documentation.
- Manage multiple proposals and estimations, ensuring timely delivery.
- Liaise with other departments for business development and innovation.
- Manage supply chain and supplier relationships.
- Monitor estimating performance and maintain unit pricing database.
- Assist with project changes and complete project handovers.
- Support the commercial team by managing Early Warning Notices (EWN) and handling Variations to ensure all changes are documented and communicated effectively
- Client Management
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients.
- Understand key success factors for clients procuring construction works.
- Maintain a sales-minded attitude and build relationships with new clients.
- Health and Safety
- Ensure awareness and promotion of the company's Health, Safety, Welfare, and Environmental policies.
- Liaise with safety representatives and attend relevant meetings.
- Aid in the administration of training and health and safety issues.
- General
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in meetings.
- Identify and pursue personal job-related training and development.
- Provide general business support as required.
- Ensure compliance with data protection principles.

- Experience within civil engineering and the utilities sector would be highly desirable
