The Role: We are currently seeking Mechanical Fitters to join a team at Barton under Needwood. This is a hands-on role focused on carrying out servicing, overhauls and associated mechanical repairs on rail vehicles. You will work as part of a skilled team, delivering high-quality mechanical work safely, efficiently and in line with engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out mandatory servicing and mechanical repairs on rail vehicle systems and components.
- Understand and work effectively with vehicle mechanical interfaces.
- Install, maintain and repair hydraulic systems.
- Carry out fault finding and diagnostic investigations to identify and rectify defects.
Essential:
- Proven experience in a mechanical fitting, maintenance or overhaul environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and component repair.
- A flexible and proactive approach to work.
- Commitment to safe working practices.
Desirable:
- Previous experience within the rail, automotive, plant or transferable heavy engineering industry.
- Experience working on large sub-assembly overhaul activities.
