Responsibilities
- Develop and Maintain: Implement the Project Safety Management System within a Systems Engineering framework.
- Plan and Manage: Create and oversee Project Safety Management Plans & Justification Plans.
- Lead Safety Initiatives: Conduct hazard and risk identification, management, and assessment activities using modern analysis techniques like STAMP & STPA.
- Influence Safety Cases: Shape the construction and delivery of the Project Safety Case, including Safety Case reports throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure Quality: Perform peer reviews and assurance tasks to validate the robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation.
- Mentor Others: Oversee and guide junior members of the Product Safety team.
- Broaden Your Impact: Understand and apply wider Safety Case, Quality, and HS&E Management System documentation.
Your Skills and Experiences
Essential:
- STEM Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Awareness of environmental challenges affecting product safety.
- Experience with traditional safety analysis techniques (FMEA, HAZOP, FTA, etc.).
- Proven ability to compile and deliver Safety Case Reports and supporting documentation.
- Experience in developing and working within a Projects Safety Management System.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret technical data and produce clear safety arguments.
Desirable
- Professional Chartership or working towards it.
- Knowledge of submarine lifecycle phases (design, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, testing).
- Experience with modern safety analysis techniques (STAMP, STPA, FRAM, etc.).
- Familiarity with System Engineering International Standards in a safety engineering context.
- Previous experience leading meetings and working groups.

About the Safety & Environmental Team
In this role, you will lead the development and maintenance of the Project Product Safety Management System and Product Safety Cases for the SSNA project. You will also guide others in resolving complex project-related issues from a Product Safety perspective. We offer relocation support packages for eligible candidates across all Submarines roles.
