A highly specialised organisation operating within the marine robotics and subsea autonomous vehicle sector is seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to support the finance team during a busy project period. This niche business develops and deploys cutting-edge autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) used by scientific research institutions, offshore wind operators, and deep-sea exploration projects worldwide. Due to an upcoming programme of international projects, they require a Finance Assistant with a unique blend of finance expertise, industry exposure, and systems knowledge.
Role
- Processing supplier invoices and employee expenses
- Assisting with project cost allocation across international marine survey contracts
- Managing purchase order reconciliations and supplier statement reviews
- Supporting month-end reporting and balance sheet reconciliations
- Monitoring subcontractor and vessel support costs against project budgets
- Assisting with multicurrency transactions including USD, EUR and NOK
- Maintaining fixed asset records for specialist robotics and survey equipment
- Supporting audit requests and government grant reporting
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within a marine engineering, offshore services, oceanographic research or subsea technology organisation
- Strong working knowledge of Deltek Costpoint
- Experience using IFS Cloud ERP
- Understanding of project-based accounting and contract costing
- Exposure to multicurrency transactions
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Power Query and XLOOKUP
- Experience reconciling inventory or high-value technical equipment
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to Innovate UK grant-funded projects
- Experience supporting businesses working with offshore wind or autonomous marine technology
- Knowledge of import/export VAT treatment for specialist equipment shipments
