Rondout Lift / Ray-Jurgen is hiring a Field Service Helper to support our technicians in the field while learning a high-demand trade. This is an entry-level role with a clear path to becoming a full technician.

As a Field Service Helper, you'll assist our experienced technicians on installation and service jobs across Connecticut and the Northeast. Most of your time will be spent on installation crews, where all jobs are handled by two-person teams. You'll load tools, prep job sites, perform mechanical tasks under direct guidance, and learn on the job. This role is a launchpad into our Installation division—where you'll get hands-on training with real equipment and grow into a technician role over time. Service jobs (which are typically solo) are supported by more experienced techs; you'll start where two sets of hands are essential. You must be comfortable working outdoors, lifting 70 lbs, and learning new tools and processes in a physically demanding environment. You must also be comfortable traveling to job sites in New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and beyond, as well as overnight travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead technicians on equipment installation jobs (vehicle lifts, shop infrastructure, and related systems)
  • Follow detailed mechanical instructions and contribute to physical jobsite work
  • Load and unload trucks; stage tools and materials for the day's work
  • Learn safe equipment handling and industry best practices
  • Support site prep and clean-up
  • Occasionally assist on service jobs requiring two techs

What We're Looking For

  • Mechanical curiosity and a willingness to learn
  • Physically able to lift 70+ lbs, crawl under lifts, and work in all weather
  • Valid driver's license (required)
  • Humble, Hungry, and Helpful—our company values
  • Comfortable taking detailed direction and learning through hands-on repetition
  • Previous experience in HVAC, construction, building maintenance, or similar is a plus
  • Trade school grads welcome
  • No formal license or certification required— we’ll train you on the job

Why This Role Matters

This position feeds directly into our Installation team, where teamwork, precision, and hands-on learning are key. If you want to work with your hands, build real skills, and grow into a career—not just a job—this is where it starts. Our best Helpers grow into Technicians within 1-2 years (often faster), running their own jobs and earning $25+/hr. From there, you can become a Senior Technician leading complex installs and mentoring others.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting pay: $20-25/hour. Candidates with experience in this industry can exceed this range.
  • Clear career path: Helper → Technician → Senior Technician
  • Health, dental, vision, 401(k)
  • Paid holidays and PTO
  • On-the-job training with industry-leading tools
  • Steady pipeline of work year-round
