On behalf of Ampere Recruitment, working exclusively with a global leader in the design and manufacture of highly engineered, precision power conversion, measurement and control solutions for mission-critical applications. Their technology enables customer innovation across semiconductor equipment, industrial, manufacturing, telecommunications, data centre computing, and healthcare, with a strong global engineering presence and decades of expertise in power conversion.

This is a key leadership position responsible for the firmware architecture and design of next-high-voltage power supply platforms. The successful candidate will need strong digital design experience in C++, with some VHDL experience required, performing applied research, design, development, testing, manufacturing support, and documentation across a range of products and systems. You'll work closely with the wider engineering team to understand equipment and system requirements, ensure products perform reliably in their intended applications, and use sound research and analysis techniques to validate design and theoretical concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test of all products.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to the development of digital architecture and design for target applications.
  • Take ownership of advanced digital architecture and design.
  • Work with other engineers and program management to decompose system-level requirements.
  • Conduct code and design reviews of team members' work.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional members of the engineering organisation to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, alongside operational performance requirements and overall system design.
  • Provide engineering support to safety, QA, production, and customers.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 8+ years' relevant experience, including:
  • Ability to work with the team to decompose a system into the required hardware, software, and firmware sub-systems, including MCU or FPGA selection.
  • C/C++ on embedded applications, with some VHDL design experience.
  • Debugging using JTAG debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analysers.
  • Research & development of electronic systems with quality built in from the outset.
  • C++ knowledge with an emphasis on reusable, maintainable, and testable designs based on Arm-based MCUs or FPGAs.
  • Development of unit and integration tests.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team player.
