This company is a specialist engineering design and build contractor operating within the UK gas infrastructure and biomethane sectors. They deliver engineering design, utility mapping, pipeline projects and technical services for gas distribution networks and major infrastructure clients nationwide. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are looking to recruit a Junior Technician to support their engineering team. This is a rare opportunity to join a business that has a proven track record of developing junior talent, with previous employees progressing from entry‑level positions through to highly skilled engineering roles.

In this role, you will support engineering projects through AutoCAD drawings, utility mapping, technical documentation, calculations, specifications and project support activities. You will receive extensive training from experienced engineers and gain exposure to both office‑based design work and live project sites across the UK. The ideal candidate will have strong Maths and Physics skills, excellent problem‑solving ability and a practical, common‑sense approach. Previous experience with AutoCAD, engineering or technical projects would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Producing AutoCAD drawings and engineering documentation
  • Supporting utility mapping and surveying activities
  • Preparing material schedules, specifications and technical reports
  • Assisting with engineering calculations and project documentation
  • Compiling survey packs and utility information from multiple mapping systems
  • Attending site visits alongside experienced engineers to gain practical project experience
  • Receiving full training on engineering design processes, software and industry standards

Qualifications

  • Strong Maths and Physics background
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and practical common sense
  • Motivated to build a long‑term career within engineering
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • AutoCAD, engineering, GIS or utility experience beneficial but not essential
  • Able to commute to Bradford
