We are recruiting for a Health and Safety Advisor to join our team in support of our contract with Yorkshire Water. This is a fantastic opportunity to start a rewarding career with Lanes Group, working closely with one of our most exciting clients and contributing to their AMP8 objectives.

About the Role

  • Salary: up to £45k depending on experience.
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, flexibility required for the role.
  • Location: Yorkshire Region.
  • Company vehicle / Car Allowance.
  • 24 days holiday + Bank holidays.

What you will be doing

  • Working closely with the Health and Safety managers and directors to provide training, independent advice, guidance, and support to operational staff across some of our main contracts based in Yorkshire.
  • Focusing on delivering contractual agreements of the client and frontline support to operatives embedding good working practice and ensuring company policy and procedures are adhered to.
  • Keeping the safety management system updated and driving adoption of a more Human Factors based approach in support of management HSEQ engagement.
  • Supporting managers in the monitoring and management across multi-discipline contracts, with specific focus on risk identification, management and control through site inspection and audit.
  • Collaborating to deliver support, general safety advice and guidance on relevant company standards and safe working practices.
  • Assisting and advising on risk assessments, ensuring employee involvement and timely review.
  • Working with the HSEQ department to implement the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Strategies and delivery plan.
  • Supporting the development, administration, and upkeep of the Safety Management Systems.
  • Working collaboratively with the client and as part of the wider safety team to ensure efficient working and the reduction of travel by supporting managers within your geographical region.
  • Supporting managers in the investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses across the service platforms ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are identified and implemented.
  • Managing reporting requirements, ensuring all notifications and reports are sent in a timely manner for the service platform and producing appropriate and timely reports covering key leading and lagging indicators supported by appropriate analysis.

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • NEBOSH Qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous HSEQ experience ideally from a utilities background.
  • Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise in a busy, changing environment.
  • Proficient in the writing of suitable and sufficient risk assessments and method statements.
  • Team player with an ability to build good working relationships across all levels of personnel.
  • A flexible approach to working.
  • Previous experience within the utilities / wastewater field would be highly advantageous.
