Our client is one of the largest Social Housing providers in the South of England. They are ambitious and have a huge 5‑year plan which we are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative to assist with. Their main aim is to create a sustainable future for social housing, building new homes and investing in existing ones, creating vibrant, thriving communities.
The Role
- Responsible for the delivery of the Grounds Maintenance service to the communal areas of our clients managed estates.
- Responsible for the upkeep of the external communal areas, grass, shrubs and hedges and soft landscaping/minor tree work.
- Using a PDA Reporting system to record site visits and record tasks carried out.
- To include grass cutting, hedge cutting, pruning, weed control, litter picking, and other works.
- Ensuring that equipment is regularly washed, kept clean and in good condition and reporting any defects to the supervisor.
- Assisting all other trades as and when required, ensuring that customers receive a high‑quality service.
Candidate Needs
- Experience in a similar role or trade background, preferably with experience of Grounds Maintenance.
- Knowledge and skills in the use of both mechanical and hand tools used in grounds maintenance operations.
- An understanding of customer needs and ability to think quickly when needed.
- To behave in a courteous and professional manner.
- Great communication skills.
- A clean Driving Licence (with towing ability DESIRABLE).
- Practical amenity horticultural knowledge & experience.
- PA1 and PA6AW qualifications (desirable, but not essential).
- NPTC certification or equivalent (desirable, but not essential).
This is a full‑time role, working a 40 hour week over 5 days. The role requires a satisfactory Basic DBS check.
